MYOPIA, HYPEROPIA AND ASTIGMATISM
WHAT ARE THEY AND HOW
CAN WE CORRECT THEM
MYOPIA, HYPEROPIA AND ASTIGMATISM
Understanding the problem
Let’s understand what myopia, hyperopia & astigmatism are and how do they affect your vision.
Glasses and contact lenses
How do they affect your life?
Because we get used to the inconveniences of wearing glasses or contact lenses, we often forget how much they limit our way of living and how much our lives can improve without them.
- What a good companion your glasses are on those rainy days… Aren’t they?
- How many times a day might you say.… Have you seen my glasses? Where are they?
- Sitting on your couch, and also on your new frames….
- Itchy eyes? How long did you keep those contact lenses in (again)?
- Just jumped into the swimming pool. Where has that contact lens gone?
MYOPIA AND ASTIGMATISM
How to correct myopia, hyperopia and/or astigmatism
Glasses and/or contact lenses
The traditional option to treat myopia is to wear glasses or contact lenses to be able to see distance objects clearly. Because we get used to the inconveniences and discomfort of wearing glasses or contact lenses, we often forget how much they can limit our way of living and how much our lives can improve without them.
Laser surgery
Another option available for treating myopia and hyperopia is refractive LASER eye surgery, which involves reshaping the cornea using a laser beam.
In LASIK procedure, a corneal flap is created. LASER beam is used to reshape the stroma and then the flap is replaced back to its original position.
EYECRYL Phakic IOL
EYECRYL Phakic intraocular lens is one of the most advanced options available today to treat myopia. Also known as implantable contact lens, EYECRYL Phakic provides predictable outcomes and therefore the best vision correction, particularly for those patients with medium to high myopia or myopia with
co-existing astigmatism.
EYECRYL Phakic is implanted right in front of the natural crystalline lens in a 15 to 20 minutes quick and painless procedure.
